How to deal with information overload

May 18, 2021

This is so simple: «Stop consuming information!»
Well, simple, but just not possible. BUT we can be very picky about which information we let in (our golden bubble : )) and which one we just don’t want to listen to or watch, don’t want to read or hear about. My father always says, that there are uncountable horrible things happening on our planet every day, we can’t take care of them all. If we listen to ALL the devastating things which are going on in the world, we can’t help, but we feel it all. It weighs us down. It’s depressing and just not helpful. STOP. CONSUMING. MAIN STREAM MEDIA.

I tell you the story of my rehab with a free newspaper here in Switzerland in the video. Letting go of that was the first stop. I don’t watch TV and don’t listen to Radio. I have no news-app on my phone and certainly no push-notifications.

Oh, so you just live underneath a rock and sing happy songs? Nope! : ) I care deeply about a lot of topics and problems in our society and world. Black lives matter, anti-racism, feminism, women’s rights, equality, inclusion, diversity, kindness, creativity, mindset, personal growth…. these are not easy breezy at all and I’m willing to consume harsh truths and learn and grow. BUT I decide from whom I read articles, watch videos, learn and who’s books I read and courses I buy. I don’t consume EVERYTHING… I choose. This makes the huge difference for me.

What do you want to let into your brain, heart and soul AND body and what do you want to stop consuming? It’s like food choices. These are brain-food-choices. Who is allowed to teach you, what do you want to know MORE about? Ditch information overload and choose.

I challenge you and ask you for setting a timeframe that you are willing to commit to: No mainstream media of any kind. Delete these apps, don’t watch TV, don’t listen to radio. Instead, choose podcasts, audio-books, blogs, magazines, movies, which teach you the things you are really deeply interested in. Tell me how it’s going, while you’re in this challenge! It’s not easy, but I promise you, that this will have a huge positive impact on your mood and wellbeing. Take good care of yourself on all the levels, this level is HUGE. I cheer you on. You rock and I love you!
